A Realtor since 2007, Susana has only been in Texas for two and a half years. Before that her family lived in Los Angeles County where she worked as an executive assistant before starting her own traveling notary and loan consulting business. “My parents decided to retire to Texas a few years ago and convinced the whole family to come along with them,” she says. “Texas was the only choice really because of the cost of living –California had become too costly.” Little did Susana know where her move to Texas would take her.

To help with the relocation, Susana enlisted         RE/MAX Lone Star Owner Kori Marra, who sold Susana on the Harlingen schools system and town amenities. She referred Susana to one of the office’s top producers, who found her a home. “The only thing I didn’t have was a job,” she remembers.     RE/MAX Lone Star helped with that too, offering her a position as Office Manager in Rancho Viejo. After eight months in that position, Kori wanted her to move toward becoming an agent. With the support of her office, Susana pursued her license and was welcomed onto the Marra team where Kori mentored her.

Initially Susana handled much of the overflow for the Marra team, but has since taken on her own projects. She characterizes her first year as “very educational and being an office manager helped with the transition. Kori  taught me the subtle things, how to read a client’s personality and how to be an efficient Realtor. It was a sink or swim year, but my personality loves that. The team concept has been crucial and we’ve been getting great leads from LeadStreet.”

Still learning everyday, Susana has already started to look to the future and would like to step out into RE/MAX Lone Star’s Commercial Division. In the long term, she’d like to work with investors and has started a web promotion to attract investor relationships.  “The RE/MAX name keeps us really busy here. I’ve found myself working with many Mexican national clients that are investing in property in south Texas,” she continues.

“Rancho Viejo has developed tremendously since RE/MAX set up shop there and is bringing in many international investors and residents.” Both she and Kori are forming relationships with Mexican RE/MAX offices and earning their IRES designation toward that end. Susana says it’s an odd feeling to know she is a part of the development of a small Texas town, something she couldn’t have guessed for herself when living in California.
