A builder of custom homes for seven years, Tony Culwell of RE/MAX Advantage in Fort Worth became a licensed Realtor in 1987. In 1999, Tony left the home building business and started interviewing at local real estate offices. “I remember interviewing for Coldwell Banker and pretty much walked out the door when they offered me a 50/50 split,” says Tony. “I followed by interviewing with three different RE/MAX offices and settled on RE/MAX Advantage in 2000.”

Tony acquired his Broker’s license in 1989 and knew what it meant to work with professionals. “RE/MAX® just has more experienced agents, and are truly ‘Above the Crowd!®’ ” he continues. “There can be large challenges in this industry and you need a company that is behind you with the proper tools to overcome them.” Some of the current challenges Tony faces in Fort Worth include getting houses sold in a buyers’ market as well as the rise of foreclosures.

 Tony’s strategy for success in dealing with these challenges has always been preparedness. Conducting a thorough market analysis and being upfront with the seller is always best. In addition to his Broker’s license, he holds his ABR, SRES, CRS and CLMHS. “I truly enjoy taking courses that allow me to better serve my clients’ needs as well as keep me ahead of the competition. I do feel lucky and blessed,” states Tony. “I believe luck is just preparation in advance. A lot of people have told me I’m lucky. When I’m lucky, it means I’ve done my due diligence.”

His preparation has worked well for him. Tony is a member of the RE/MAX Hall of Fame, a consistent top producer and will earn Platinum Club status this year. Calling on his contacts and relationships from his days as a home builder, Tony now works mostly with builder listings and has many clients referred to him from that direction. “I like to educate my clients about the ins and outs of purchasing a newly built home and I feel my previous experience helps me do this.” Always one to support those in need, Tony makes contributions from every transaction to Children’s Miracle Network®.
