What methods enabled 3-year RE/MAX The Woodlands & Spring agent Steve John to sell more new houses than any other Realtor in The Woodlands during 2006? “I give all the glory to God,” says Steve of his success. “But second to that, it’s definitely referrals.”
Steve certainly seems blessed. Born in Auburn, Alabama (War Eagle!) and relocated to Texas when he was 15, Steve became a licensed agent during his freshman year in College. However, Steve delayed a career in real estate in order to work as a manager for UPS. Though he loved the company and learned valuable business skills there, he soon tired of the corporate world and turned back to real estate five years ago by signing on with an independent company.
“After a while, I started craving a more professional environment, not one where those around consider real estate more of a hobby than a career,” continues Steve. “Through my career at UPS, I learned the importance of branding and advertising and I recognized that these were high priorities at RE/MAX®, so I switched to RE/MAX The Woodlands & Spring in 2004.” He has been kept very busy ever since, handling mostly residential sales and earning consistent referral business. “For me, it’s like every client I satisfy creates three more clients,” Steve says.
Despite his success, Steve believes there is always room for improvement. He is currently looking to take on an assistant and would like involve himself in more Top Producer Programs. In addition to achieving his CRS and CHMS designation, Steve was honored by The Woodlands as the top new home sales Realtor for 2006, selling an amazing 35 new houses during the year. “It was a great honor for me since I really do love The Woodlands,” confesses Steve, who was awarded a $10,000 trip to New York City (or destination of his choice) for his achievement.
