RE/MAX of Texas has announced that Sarah Hebert has been named 'Agent of the Quarter'. Sarah Hebert moved to San Angelo five years ago when her former husband’s law enforcement job brought them to Central Texas. Sarah was a stay-at-home mom at the time and had been responsible for buying and selling their homes during these frequent relocations. This practice fostered a love of real estate and a great familiarity with it. Deciding it was the career for her, she earned her license in 2004, starting with independent company Noble Realty.
As a new agent, Sarah had reserves of initiative and know-how, and was gifted with excellent people skills. “Most new Realtors take a little while to get started,” Sarah says. “They approach their friends and neighbors and get little bits of business here and there, gradually getting their name out. I started out advertising myself and getting calls right away.” It was an encouraging break for the newly initiated Sarah, but that excitement quickly changed into frustration and discouragement, almost causing her to pack her bags.
“My first eight contracts fell through,” she confesses. “Eight! I began thinking maybe this career wasn’t for me. My colleagues tried to console me by explaining that no new agent ever gets eight contracts like that. They told me it wasn’t normal and to just hang in there. But by that eighth contract, I wanted to quit.” Luckily for RE/MAX, Sarah gave herself one more chance and was met with success. Her business has grown at a steady pace ever since.
Sarah joined RE/MAX Advantage in 2007 when she felt that she was doing well, but stagnating. She was impressed by the go-getter spirit of RE/MAX Advantage Broker/Owner Chris ‘Chill’ Hill. “Chris was hard working and seemed to be everywhere, and that’s the way I like to work,” she explains. “I sat down with Chris and felt that this was a hard working company and it was for me. What you put into it, you get out of it.”
Part of Sarah’s love for real estate stems from a desire to help people. “Many people that are buying houses don’t know or trust the market or Realtors. They think they are going to be taken. I love breaking through that,” says Sarah. Much of Sarah’s clients come from a diverse income background, some are apprehensive and less savvy about buying and selling. “I enjoy educating and building trust with these people. It’s a great way to help them.” Helping permeates much of Sarah’s life. She has been an active volunteer in local charities, including CASA, disaster relief work and counseling abused children.
