Top Producer Kathy Beckham of RE/MAX Llano has been honored with the RE/MAX of Texas Agent of the Quarter award given by the RE/MAX Reporter Magazine. Prior to a career in real estate, Kathy worked as a Closer for Austin Title for seven years. Coupled with her husband’s home builder business, this made Kathy very familiar with the real estate industry and made jumping from Closer to Realtor a natural progression.

The family moved to Llano where Kathy earned her real estate license in 2001. She started out in particularly sensitive time for her, her family, and soon the entire country. “I was sitting in a real estate class when the attacks of September 11th occurred,” she relates. Having recently moved to a new town and embarking on a new career, the added trauma of those days and the effect they had upon the community and economy made the transition difficult for Kathy. “The first couple of years were quiet,” Kathy says.

Despite these obstacles, Kathy kept going and found great success in Mike Virdel’s office, now RE/MAX Llano. When Mike spoke to his Realtors about becoming a RE/MAX Franchise, Kathy and the entire office were fully behind the proposal. “It was a great choice for everyone,’ she says. “I have received business from people who simply have had a pleasant previous experience with RE/MAX. That’s how valuable the name recognition is. The referral system and resources are excellent.”

Though Kathy is not lacking in real estate disciplines, she is frequently involved with Farm and Ranch transactions, gaining experience in the field when a client turned good friend called about a listing five years ago. “I worked with him for four years before he purchased a ranch. So I saw a lot of property with him,” continues Kathy, who enjoys the outdoor showings. “It was great. I went from pantyhose and suits to blue jeans and boots!”

In her career future, she hopes to acquire her Broker’s license and different designations.  But outside the office, Kathy serves as an officer for the Llano Junior Women’s Club, an organization that partakes in a number of civic activities in Llano and raises funds for a scholarship given to a graduating senior. In addition, Kathy does bookkeeping for her husbands company. But her favorite activities remain spending time with her family, which includes two married daughters and two grandsons in Austin, gardening and spending time at Llano City Lake.
