Six years before becoming a Realtor, Jennifer was a dedicated Basketball and Softball coach and teacher at Pflugerville high school. With the birth of her first child, Jennifer redirected her professional life to include as much time with her family as possible. Real estate was the ideal choice.

“I’ve known Larry English since I was in middle school,” she says of the RE/MAX Greater Austin Broker/Owner. “He is a dear friend of the family and encouraged me to give real estate a shot.” Jennifer took Larry’s advice, becoming licensed and joining his office in 2000. “I had a great experience joining RE/MAX from the start,” says Jennifer, who quickly revealed a natural talent for selling homes. “I was able to spend lots of time with my family and I was making more money in much less time than in teaching.”

Jennifer, like many successful Realtors, is a people person who loves interaction and meeting new people. A native of Pflugerville, she is excited to introduce new residents to her town, which has always lingered just off the map. “The town is growing a lot now, but there was a time when it was the place that no one had ever heard of and certainly couldn’t pronounce,” she explains. “The close proximity of Austin is allowing people who want out of the urban life (but still want access to it) a place to make their home. Investment has increased and the values have climbed considerably since I joined the industry.”

In eight years as a Realtor, Jennifer has had the benefit of Larry English as a broker and mentor, under whose tutelage she has become a shining success. “Larry is an invaluable resource. His experience in this industry is vast and he encourages his agents to learn by doing,” Jennifer says. “He has taught me to work harder in the market. Though he doesn’t micromanage his agents, he won’t let them fall on their faces either. Larry teaches his agents how to make it on their own.”

In the future, Jennifer plans to expand her business but keep the focus as always on her children. At the time we talked to Jennifer for this article, she had just given birth to a third daughter. She remains extremely active with her children, coaching their sports teams and as a member of the PTA. When at work, however, she works hard. “Quality of time is better than quantity. What I do with my time is more important than how much I have.”
