Born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, Mike Jorissen came to Texas in 1981. In the years prior to his real estate career, Mike earned three masters degrees and worked with Spanish-speaking migrant families, and as a public school administrator. Finally tired of the snow, Mike and his family relocated to Austin, searching for a family-friendly city. In 1982, he decided to try real estate.
“I was a FSBO in Michigan which exposed me to many Realtors soliciting my business,” says Mike. “They really got me interested in a profession I had not previously considered. I wanted a profession that was flexible and provided for creative decision making. Real Estate was perfect.” Mike started with a local real estate company in Austin and excelled for the next 12 years. In 1994, he felt a need to guide his career more independently.
“I went with RE/MAX® because your career is in your hands and I enjoy that kind of opportunity,” Mike explains. “I’ve had an extremely productive career at RE/MAX Heart of Texas. The people are great to work with and the office has a great spirit of camaraderie.” Now as a 13-year RE/MAX veteran, Mike still considers himself a student of the industry.
“It’s very important to always be willing to learn, and implement too,” he says. “Education is so important, as is surrounding yourself with success-oriented people and observing their habits.” Keeping in that spirit, Mike has attended many real estate conferences and seminars including Howard Brinton’s several times, saying it really “opened his eyes.”
Down the road, Mike sees himself continuing his team’s mission statement and advancing his business. “Our Mike Jorissen Team goal is to provide seamless real estate service and exceed client expectations,” Mike says. “We are interested in building mutually beneficial, life-long relationships with our clients and colleagues.”
Off the job, Mike spends a great deal of his time communicating and being involved with his daughter, a self-sponsored Nurse/Midwife who has been working in Malawi, Africa for the past three-years. Contact Mike Jorissen by calling 512-794-9292 or visiting www.MikeJorissen.com
