A third-generation Realtor, the real estate business is in Melissa Berndt’s blood. “My grandmother sold real estate in Los Angeles until her she was in her 80s, and she and I were very close,” says Melissa.  “As a child I remember playing in her office and helping her with open houses. Between my mother, who was also an agent, and my grandmother, I have been around real estate almost all my life.”

A native of southern California and graduate of Pepperdine University, Melissa became a Realtor in 1999 after a ten-year career in sales and marketing with Doubletree Hotels in Los Angeles and Austin. “I met my husband in Los Angeles and he is originally from New York.  We decided to move to Austin in 1992 because we fell in love with the city and central Texas,” continues Melissa.  “We had a good laugh when we realized that Austin is an equal distance from both our families. 15 years later, Austin is home.”

Melissa began her real estate career with Coldwell Banker. In 2006, after receiving encouragement from RE/MAX Capital City Broker/Owner Jeff Osborne, Melissa joined his team.
