RE/MAX of Texas has named Mary Ann Byrns of RE/MAX Masters as an Agent of the Quarter for the final quarter of 2007. A Realtor since 1985, Mary Ann Byrns came to the real estate industry by accident. Originally from Illinois, Mary Ann and her husband settled in Texas over 20 years ago following her husband’s job transfer. Within three months of the move, her husband was laid off and Mary Ann stepped up to the plate to help the family survive.

“Real estate was a matter of survival back then, but revealed itself as a blessing in disguise,” says Mary Ann, a former teacher and daycare center owner. “My own agent had told me that I would make a good realtor. So I followed that compliment to what became a truly amazing life change.” Mary Ann joined first with a Merrill Lynch brokerage and was awarded their “Rookie of the Year” award, becoming a Luxury Home Marketing Specialist the following year.

“I worked hard and tried very hard to give everyone my time,” continues Mary Ann. “I made the calls, I worked with builders. When IBM began relocating employees to the Fort Worth area, I ended up with 98 listings as a single agent. Real estate became a passion very quickly. Every client I work with becomes a goal I must reach. It is extremely rewarding.”

With so much business on her shoulders, Mary Ann began building what today is the 12-member Mary Ann Byrns Team. She also had an interest in coaching, which she felt would be more rewarding if she coached and mentored her own team. “I took on an assistant and a Buyer’s Agent at first. I wanted to run my business like a business. Having a team allowed me to do that. The other part of the equation was RE/MAX®.”

Mary Ann did not find her place with RE/MAX Masters until 2003. Several previous times she had been with area RE/MAX offices, but the fit wasn’t right. “I loved the RE/MAX business model, and I kept coming back to RE/MAX every few years,” she notes. “When I met with Kristina Hayes at RE/MAX Masters, I knew it would be perfect for me. She is one of the most energetic and empowering Brokers I have ever met.”

A belief in education and community service has led Mary Ann to earn several designations and to attend dozens of seminars. “I regularly attend both the RE/MAX of Texas Statewide Convention and the RE/MAX International Convention, as well as seminars with Howard Brinton,” she adds. The Mary Ann Byrns Team is a tremendous supporter of Children’s Miracle Network and their annual client appreciation day has earned the charity over $20,000 over several years.
