RE/MAX Space Center – Pearland Sales Associate has been named Agent of the Quarter for the Houston Real Estate Council. A Houston native and retired U.S. Navy officer, Frank Mendenhall joined the RE/MAX Network and real estate in 2006. Yet to complete his first year, Frank has already proved his salt by nearly hitting $100,000 in transactions. As an agent, he is something of a maverick. You won’t find Frank in a suit and even his business cards feature this RE/MAX Pearland – Space Center Associate adorned in Cowboy boots and hat.

“I try to stay down to earth in my business and I’ve found that clients appreciate that,” says Frank, who was eager for a more laid back wardrobe after two decades in uniform. “It makes me comfortable and that helps to put my clients at ease.”

After 20 years of naval service, Frank wanted a change of career and an opportunity to try new things. “I actually chose to pursue real estate because of the many disappointing experiences I have had with Realtors,” Frank explains. “In the military, you obviously move around a lot. I was sure I could do a better job than some of these agents I worked with. In the end, the one good experience I had with an agent was from RE/MAX® and that’s the first place I went when I decided to get into real estate myself.”

Now, recognized by the three RE/MAX Space Center offices as ‘Rookie of the Year’, Frank is off to a running start with no signs of slowing down. He is heavily involved in his community as a YMCA coach and committee member for his local Cub Scout troop. He is also happy to be involved with his local VFW and the Sentinels of Freedom program.

Where would he like to be in five years? Frank prudently does not set financial goals for himself, but performance goals instead. “In five years I would like to be working entirely off referral business. That will assure me that I am satisfying my clients enough to be recommended to others,” Frank says. “Recognizing your own strengths and compensating for weaknesses is crucial and puts you on the fast track to success.” Look for Frank on that fast track in the coming years.
