David Acosta knew when he moved to El Paso from Mexico with his family in 2002 that he wanted to be a real estate agent. For several years prior, he owned his own trading business and worked with manufactures that also owned extensive real estate in the United States. “They told me that real estate was a lucrative and exciting business,” David remembers. “When I came to Texas, I had no second thoughts about what I wanted to do.

With an aggressive plan and sharp business savvy, David acquired his license and started his career with Coldwell Banker in El Paso. In a short amount of time, he became their #1 top producing agent. However, the company structure troubled David. “It was a very old fashioned way of doing business,” he says. “I also didn’t like working so hard for the benefit of the broker.”

A year before he moved his business to RE/MAX Homes Plus, David attended Destination RE/MAX, flying to Denver and meeting with RE/MAX representatives at the company’s headquarters. He was impressed with the company’s business model and was prepared to join RE/MAX, but after speaking with his broker, he decided to stay with Coldwell Banker. “That lasted a short time until it became obvious that nothing would change,” he says. “That’s when I took my business to RE/MAX Homes Plus.”

David feels there has never been a better time to be a RE/MAX agent. “We have so many new residents coming to El Paso from all over the country and internationally,” he continues. “They are coming here to be close to the border and Fort Bliss as well as for the many different amenities we have in our city. These new residents are already familiar with RE/MAX want to work with us.”

Just over a year after he became a RE/MAX Agent, David’s career is soaring. He is already a member of the RE/MAX executive club and may one day look to open his own office. But even top producers need time off. When he is not serving his clients, David enjoys traveling with his family. Most recently, they spent 12 days in Boston and New York. “I became a U.S. citizen last year, so seeing the places that this country began has been especially meaningful to me.”
