A former Air Force kid who grew up mainly in Austin, Donna came to real estate after working as an administrative assistant for an automobile dealership. “I was working 60 or 70 hours a week and I thought that if I was going to work, I might as well work for myself,” she says. Real estate appealed to her because of the personal element involved. “I’ve always been the kind of person who enjoys helping people in whatever I do. I also love looking at homes. It fit perfectly.”
Licensed in 1997, Donna started her career with Coldwell Banker where she spent the next ten years. The first week she was in business – in fact the first phone call she made resulted in a client and sale. “All the established agents teased me and told me that it was beginner’s luck.” But things started rolling as Donna took phone time in order to build a rapport with potential clients. After 10 years of steady growth in her career, she began to seek more opportunity. “The Coldwell Banker office had 60 to 80 agents and I felt lost in the shuffle there,” she says. “Also, I was paying for every lead and service and wanted something that was more agent friendly than corporate friendly.
Donna knew she’d found the right office after talking to RE/MAX Preferred Associates Owner Robby Setser “I had recently attended a Brian Buffini seminar and became attracted to the business by referral concept. When Robby told me he was a follower of Buffini, I knew it was the place to be. The environment was a perfect fit and I could see there was more opportunity here.” Donna jumped right in with 100 Days to Greatness and has spent her first year building referrals. “I’ve also experienced the power of the RE/MAX name recognition by receiving referrals from RE/MAX agents in other parts of the country. I would never have picked up those clients at Coldwell Banker,” she explains.
“Above everything in her business, Donna enjoys the personal touch and seeks to build relationships with all her clients. To this end, Donna has earned a number of designations, including ABR, CNHS, and is an expert on staging. “I want to be better than average and find the best way to help people in these transactions,” she says. In the spirit of helping others, Donna spearheads office initiatives for organizations such as Habitat for Humanity and Children’s Miracle Network. She organizes trips to DFW airport to greet the troops returning from Iraq and Afghanistan and sponsors Child Protective Services.
