RE/MAX of Texas has announced Carol Ann Dixon as an 'Agent of the Quarter'. A resident of the Rio Grande Valley for over 40 years, RE/MAX 1st Choice in McAllen Sales Associate Carol Ann Dixon is definitely well-known. She owned and operated a series of women’s clothing stores in the McAllen area until retiring over a decade ago. “Unfortunately, I became very bored in my retirement, and I went to work in the sales and marketing department for a local hospital,” says Carol Ann. “The offices were adjacent to the ER and the exposure to sick people affected my health badly. I loved my work at the hospital, but I needed a different venue.”

Carol Ann tried her hand at real estate, admittedly without knowing what she was getting into. “I love people and I had always been in sales, so I got my license in 1995 and started with a friend at a smaller company in town,” she says. After briefly considering opening her own office, Carol Ann joined Joan Massie at RE/MAX 1st Choice in McAllen. “Joan was a former customer when I sold women’s clothing and I’ve been friends with her and her husband James for over 30 years.”

The joy of working with old friends was not the only benefit of joining RE/MAX. Carol Anne found RE/MAX to be a perfect fit for her, particularly with its emphasis on education and its solid global reputation. “I was sold on the slogan ‘Nobody in the World Sells More Real Estate Than RE/MAX’. The national advertising alone was reason to join, but I wanted to be associated with the best,” says Carol Ann. She made the jump to RE/MAX in 2002.

After 13 years in the business, Carol Ann has some noteworthy advice to new agents just starting out. “Prepare yourself with all the tools you at your disposal. Learn what you can from every source, classes, the media and especially your fellow agents.” Carol Ann is passionate about educating others, regularly attending RE/MAX and TAR conventions for new methods and practices. “You can get ideas from everywhere,” she says, though Carol Ann also extols the virtue of old-fashion hard work. “There’s no replacement for hard work. This job is ultimately about serving your client,” she explains. “If you do your best for you client, everything will turn out beautifully.”

Outside the office, Carol Ann is an avid traveler, having recently returned from Rome with her husband. The two are also large golf enthusiasts, though they enjoy the simple pleasures of the game as opposed to low handicaps. Carol Ann teaches a Sunday school class for elderly women, whom she affectionately refers to as her “ladies”. She is the incoming President of the McAllen Women’s Council of Realtors and plans to carry on her ideals of education and mentoring.
