Prior to 2002, Michael was enjoying a career on the engineering side of the high tech industry. His introduction to real estate came when he listed a piece of property with agent James (Doc) Borron.

“I was actually able to find a buyer for the property and decided that I could do this job and enjoyed it,” Michaels remembers. Being born and raised in Bastrop provided him with many existing connections in the city. In 2006, he initiated a career switch. Doc, his listing agent, became his mentor in real estate and later joined him at         RE/MAX Bastrop Area.

“I just up and quit the job I had. There were some financial difficulties at the beginning with attending classes and keeping food on the table at the same time,” he continues. “Within my first 18 months I was able to close almost 30 transactions and a little over $5.5 million.”

Among the honors he earned in his first two years were the 2007 Bastrop County Rookie of the Year,  and Bastrop Board of Realtors Executive Platinum Award. He is a sterling TREPAC contributor, member of the Bastrop Chamber of Commerce and is heavily involved in Children’s Miracle Network and the Bastrop Historical Society.

In August of 2008 Michael moved his business to RE/MAX Bastrop Area and became the office’s top producer that month.  “I felt I’d reached a plateau and as they say, ‘once you hit a plateau and start moving backwards, it’s nearly   impossible to go forward again’,” he says. “I made the decision to move my business to RE/MAX and it has been everything I expected. RE/MAX has given me the tools and resources I need to continue to build my business.” 

In the future, Michael plans to double his production year by year. In the short term he will finish his GRI classes and pursue his broker’s license. Outside of real estate, Michael enjoys golf and meets many of his clients on the course.
