RE/MAX of Texas has named Annette Kilker of RE/MAX Preferred as an Agent of the Quarter for the final quarter of 2007. If one thing can be said for Annette Kilker, it’s that she enjoys a great challenge. This RE/MAX Hall of Fame and Platinum Club member started in real estate almost 30 years ago after a succession of jobs that ultimately bored her. “I was licensed in 1978 and I really wanted to learn something new,” says Annette. “I quickly became engrossed in the business and have never wanted to leave.
2008 marks Annette’s 30th anniversary as a realtor and she says it’s been a great ride. “I’ve met so many great people and enjoy the challenge of putting a deal together,” she says. “When I started out, I initially got into investment, but I found I had no taste for working with renters and maintaining rental property. I really loved working with people in residential sales.”
Working for years at a Texarkana Century 21 brokerage, Annette earned many company distinctions. She joined RE/MAX in 2002 when her brokerage joined the network as RE/MAX Preferred. “My business slowed down for a little while when we first changed over because of the loss of some network referrals. But then it shot back up and exceeded my previous levels,” she explains. “My sales are larger, but I’m not working as hard. It’s wonderful!”
Technology has been an integral part in growing Annette’s business. She was one of the first Realtors in Texarkana to have her own web site. “I get a lot of my buyers through my web site,” Annette continues. “Technology is essential in helping Realtors stay ahead of the curve. It’s important for businesses to embrace new mediums and change in general.”
But Annette’s success is due to more than just being an early adopter of emerging technology. After three decades, she has adopted key behavioral strategies that have equaled sales. “Stay focused and remember to let go of what you can’t change and what doesn’t work,” she advises. “Learn to move on, and be flexible. Look ahead and always stay open to new ideas.”
